Abu Dhabi targeting more visitors in 2010

09 November 2009

The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has revealed an expansion plan for 2010, with a 10% increase in hotel guests targeted.

In 2009, the emirate is expecting hotel visitor numbers to hold steady at 1.5m before increasing steadily over the coming years to reach 2.3m by the end of 2012.

Substantial investment is planned in Abu Dhabi to provide new hotel rooms, golf courses, attractions and destination marketing initiatives.

Mubarak Al Muhairi, director general of the ADTA, said: 'We are fully committed to delivering value and performance for all stakeholders.

'The products and services we will deliver in carrying out our mandate will be broader in scope, more rigorous and more effective. We will adapt to change and continue to look strategically ahead.'

The authority will carry out a visitor survey over the next 12 months to inform its future strategies, which will cover subjects including spending patterns, length of stay, accommodation and activities.
