Etihad Airways has crossed the threshold of 6 million passengers, registering a 34per cent increase in 2008 according to a note issued by the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Despite the impact of the global economic crisis, Ethiad reached its target of 6 million passengers during the year" said executive director James Hogan. The airline, with a network of 50 destinations, increased its fleet to 42 aircrafts with the arrival of 9 new airplanes in 2008.
Last year Ethiad signed a record order for 43 billion dollars with Airbus and Boeing.
