17 new Marriott hotels by 2011

JW Marriot Jr., chairman and managing director of the hotel chain Marriott International has confirmed that, despite the global economic crisis, the group will be opening 17 new hotels in the United Arab Emirates by 2011 for a total of 4,000 extra rooms. "People continue to travel for business reasons, family visits and the uncontainable human instinct to explore new places and cultures," said JW Marriot Jr. in an interview with the daily paper Emirates Business, stressing that the Marriott approach is one of a "long-term vision as concerns global financial upsets, convinced that the tourist sector will quickly regain speed. " It is the same philosophy seen overall in the Middle East and North African area, where any delays are connected with the difficulty to obtain materials and not a fall in confidence as concerns the regional tourist sector.
